Hexagram 12: Standstill (Stagnation)

The Judgment
In Standstill there is a want of good understanding between men, and its indication is unfavorable to the firm and correct course of the superior man. We see in it the great gone and the little come.
The Image
Heaven and earth not in intercommunication: the image of Standstill. Thus the superior man restrains the manifestation of his virtue and avoids the calamities that threaten him; there is no opportunity of conferring on him the glory of emolument.
Description
Standstill (Pi) is the reverse of Peace: heaven draws away upward, earth sinks downward, and nothing connects. Inferior influences are rising, and good efforts find no echo. The right response is to withdraw, keep your integrity, and refuse to be bought.
