Meaning
The eight eyes of the Dzi bead represent the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism: the right-turning conch, the parasol, the two golden fish, the treasure vase, the lotus, the endless knot, the victory banner and the Dharma wheel. According to legend, the gods offered them to Buddha Shakyamuni after his enlightenment. This is why Tibetans regard an eight-eyed Dzi as particularly strong protection against misfortune.
On each side of the Dzi sits a lava stone bead. Lava stone forms when molten lava cools on the earth’s surface and is known as a grounding stone. It is said to steady the mind and ease anxiety. Because it is porous, it absorbs essential oils well. A drop or two on the beads is enough for the scent to last for hours.
Effect
The Dzi bead mainly protects against negative outside influences and helps you stay calm when things get hectic. The grounding lava stone strengthens this effect.
